We have authorized mechanic who looks after safety side of the vehicles. 7. Can I choose 3, 6 or 12 months registration? Yes you can. Please advised us from the beginning of the process. 8. Who pays the stamp duty? The purchaser. 9. How much is the stamp duty? Every state or territory has their own rates for the motor vehicle duty. For Victoria it is 4.2% and 3% for NSW for passenger vehicles. 10. Is TAC same as CTP? In Victoria CTP insurance is administered by the TAC (Transport Accident Commission), which is also the sole issuer of CTP green slips. Claims are made to the TAC and they pay compensation for injuries or deaths caused by a car accident. 11. Is CTP compulsory? In Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania, and Western Australia, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance is included in the cost of your vehicle registration.
